Electrical telemetry

Telemetry is a branch of science which deals with the measurement connected to distance. This branch has highest scope in industrial, commercial, space and military applications. First step in telemetry is conversion of a measurable entity into a signal. The signal is then transmitted through a channel. In the last stage, signal is reconstructed into quantitative display which may be viewed or recorded graphically. In electrical telemetry, three components are used. They are sending end transmitter equipment, receiver end equipment and interconnecting channel. Here measurand is initially detected by a detector. Detector then transmits its output electrical signal to the telemetry channel by using some advanced transmitters. This constitutes sending end equipment. A channel connects sending end and receiving end. At receiving end, the electrical signal which is received is reconverted into a measurable format by a receiver. This format is then displayed by using an end device. End device has to be calibrated in terms of the measurand.
